Rebecca ran with everything inside of her. She ran like Alison had from Silver. She ran like she wished she could have when she first found out about her mother being the one behind Chris’s setup.
Out the double sliding glass doors she ran. She checked both ways in a panic and heard Darnin behind her. Jogging awkwardly, she hammered her heels on the thick steel Muni tracks. Maybe she’d run to Pier 39. Maybe she’d make it to Joe’s Crab Shack. Maybe she’d jump on a ferry and go to Alcatraz Island…
She ran down Mason Street.
After a minute, she slowed considerably. Running in heels was always a task. The same thing had been the case with Alison running from Silver. Heels. Why was it that every time a girl needed to book it, she was wearing heels?
