Would also recommend Colorless Tsukuru and his years of Pilgrimage. It's on the shorter side and was even referenced in the popular TV show The Bear.

There’s another Murakami who is also good n feels like a darker version of Haruki n that’s Ryu Murakami- his short novel Audition is gripping

.. fascinating read & presentation .. I really give a fucknot re the dude’s writing yet admire greatly the plasticfantastic physical evidence .. Daffy Duck in a Cathedral.. well amen ! now we talkin !

More interesting is your Tale of It & page structure presentation / layout.. how you slice & dice the guy’s writings like slips of paper inside ‘virtual fortune cookie’ - the cropped screengrabs & underlining (mapping ?) within your experiences & descriptions perspectives.. (glee ! ?)

This joint ? I just dunno.. my thoughts churn while plodding or clawing through so much well intended stuff mainly - for any clues or sightings re next oasis .. & reflecting ones I’ve found..

Did you read or know about the San Quentin Project ? It’s a great oasis I found here.. re ‘mapping of photos’ - having worked in Maximum Security I had instant affinity.. as a documentary shooter.. so that’s an example - where I immediately ‘reflected’ the endeavour.. bingo bango.. same re the woman who keeps bees in Orkney - I’m gifted at finding Exemplars .. tell me about your previous work .. you were a machinist.. do I recall ? 🏴‍☠️🦎🇨🇦

found this fairy early on.. One of the fascinating artists here does this with her sketches in her sketchbook.. & that led to.. well .. you know how such happenstance happens eh ! ps.. hindsight suggests you’re not a retired machinist .. plus I reviewed your ‘’about’ .. ps #2 - I appreciate all subscribers but caution folks - they know where to find me if interested & so feel free to turn off email notification or even subscribing - many of my early subscribers are family & friends - the rest are members here. Notes is my best friend & my homepage needs gardening, daily.. yet since I’m spotlighting other artists & Exemplars I come across - those posts deserve multiple days - pinned either as the ‘hero’ ‘stack .. if I post about them via Notes.. Just trying to ‘tune the engine’ & as often mentioned, neither Religion or Politics has any place .. I deal with that horseshit elsewhere

Read all of Murakami up to Killing Commendatore, and have most in 1st editions (in translation, of course). I think my favorite is still Kafka on the Shore!

I need to read KC. My mom just told me to read that one, too.

When I was in undergrad, I had an English professor did not understand why the session with Murakami. Best way I can express it is watching someone who does not quite understand what he is looking at but is fascinated at the same time. It's like reading a story where the narrator is a participant in two other people talking about something that they don't quite understand. And the hilarity that ensues.
