Yes: Yet another book. For a while now I’ve been culling essays from my 2.4 years writing on Substack, planning for an essay collection. I am currently finishing up the collection now. That book should be coming out soon: Controversial: The Substack Essays: Polemics, 2022-2024.
It’s a thin book, about 55,000 words (220 double-spaced pages). I’m working with a book designer on the cover. It’s the best of my most salient and controversial essays covering politics, culture and literature/writing. (Everything from nuanced commentary on Trump and J.D. Vance to book banning on both sides and Alcoholics Anonymous to Henry Miller, Charles Bukowski, Nabokov and Kerouac.
All of these essays were originally published right here, on Sincere American Writing. Some were paywalled for paid subscribers only; some were free; some were free but with only paid subscribers able to comment. Either way, you’ll get them all in one place for a cheap price ($2.99 eBook).
If you enjoyed my punk rock YA literary coming-of-age novel (The Crew) or my fictional memoir, Two Years in New York: Before, During and After COVID, or my suspense novel, The Grim Room, please consider buying a copy of this essay collection.
As you all no doubt remember, the two years between 2022 and 2024 were rather insane years, a time of mass media dishonesty, incredible tribalism, political corruption, the continuation of a global pandemic, the rise and then cracking of wokeism, assassination attempts, and more. A return perhaps to some new age version of the turbulent 1960s.
If you value my work, I’d greatly appreciate the support. If enough of you buy the book, maybe it can really make an impact and add to the dialogue.
Thank you all for your support either way, free and paid.
I appreciate it more than you know.
